How it works

Flights, at your own cost. If you are joining from Northern California, we book the same flights as me: Turkish Airlines from SFO on Saturday November 7, back into SFO on Tuesday November 17. If you are joining from out of state or out of the country, book whatever gets you to Istanbul in time to be on Turkish Airlines TK042, Istanbul to Johannesburg, 2:00 AM Monday November 9, which is where the group comes together. Leave with us on November 16 or on your own date.

Shared costs, split equally. The 15 seat van with fuel and tolls, about $1,500 to $2,000 for the trip, plus the accommodation and meals I arrange for the group. Every receipt is logged in the portal and the total is divided equally among everyone on the trip, including me, and settled at the end.

US passport holders are stamped in on arrival (passport valid six months past the trip). Any other passport, check your visa rules now.

Please read this twice: this is not a holiday. The schedule is minute by minute, the driving is long, and every minute counts. By applying you agree to be punctual and disciplined so no one holds the group back.
